A few friends came to school with tales of mischevous leprechauns that had played tricks and left notes for them. Escaping the traps that had been set. It sounds as though those friends that celebrate St. Patrick's Day had a lot of fun.
Both classes took advantage of uninterrupted work choice time to explore many areas of the room.
Maxi wanted to work with Quadrilla which inspired some friends to join that haven't played before. Quadrill is a marble game which takes patience as it is not intuitive and the children need to work with the pieces before figuring out how they go together.
Yesterday a group of friends played with the farm. Allocating each animal a specific area. Today we had the wild animals out, Farrah, Brooklyn and Grace worked together to group the animals by habitat. Gorillas, Minnesota animals, ducks, frogs, ladybugs, zebra, giraffe. A few snowmen even found their way to Antarctica where the penguin lived.
Livio and Ren were two of many friends that chose to make a book. Creating pictures and dictating the story to a teacher. Transitioning into paper airplanes toward the end of the morning.
Jenna and Maxi made more pizza to feed their hungry classmates. Jenna made individual slices of pizza each one with a different topping. Maxi was very clear that his pizza had to have pepperoni on it.
Brooklyn and Anne learned how to draw their animal using tracers on the light table. Brooklyn decided she needed a grey marker to show the color of the animals fur. While Anne decided she wanted to draw a dog using all of her favorite colors.
Friends were busy in dress up. Charlotte was the mom, and she had a lot of children. She told me she had to cook lots of food and wash the dishes.
At the end of the morning we read the books that Ren and Livio made and shared items that friends had created before heading outside to enjoy the wet snow.
