TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY

Max was born on the 29th February 5 years ago. A leap year!  Happy Birthday Max.  Dad, Seth, joined us to celebrate, and Lori,  Jenna's mom read  Click, clack, moo, cows that type while we enjoyed our popsicles.

During morning meeting we reached 120 animals.  It is amazing how much their collective brain power can achieve.

Charlotte and Hazel continued adding more animals to ours and Mr. Andrews and Mr. Billadeau's animal list during work choice time.

WEDNESDAY

                                                               Monday afternoon I read

inspiring friends to create the island using model magic.  We left it out the last couple of days for friends to add creatures.

Our students have become very interested in looking at animal books since we started our list of animals Finding even more animals to add to our ever increasing list.

A large group of students acted out being different species of wild cats.  Many trainers tried to work with them.  Alex found that singing to the cats calmed them and put them to sleep.

For those students that didn't get to hear the Rotten Island story I have added a link.

                                                                    Rotten Island link.

Brainstorming

FRIDAY

Yesterday afternoon we watched a livestream of the rover landing.  Today, we looked at a map of Mars and found where  the rover Perseverance, landed.

Inspired by the rover landing spaceship making was very popular. One group  built a very large spaceship with a place for each person to sit.  There was some negotiation regarding who would sit where.    Max had put  shooters on  the end of the ship which made this a sort after location.  The issue was resolved when they agreed to spending 5 minutes each in the spot.

Anne and Nora built a smaller spaceship just big enough for the two of them to fit.

We also continued working on our self portrait drawings.

MONDAY

We decided as this was a short week we would leave letter of the week and focus on  brainstorming a list  of animals, in preparation for our animal study.    We explained mythic animals and extinct animals are not part of this animal study.   The brainstorming session helps the children start to think about which animal they would like to focus on.

Their brains were switched on as you can tell from the list below.  We reached seventy seven animals in our brainstorming session.  During work choice time Charlotte wrote down a few more that she and friends thought of throughout the morning.

You may want to start to have a conversation with your child about which animals they might be interested in, but we will not make any final decisions until a week after conferences.

We ended our morning by reading

QUESTIONS
What story did Mr Andrews tell on Friday?
Can you remember any of the animals from the book?

Maxi's 41/2 Birthday celebration

Happy Half Birthday!  Maxi received lots of lego wishes before we listened to a book that Romina and Mark read to us via Zoom called

A fun book about a duck that wants to make friends.

A couple of friends showed interest in wanting to learn crochet but felt it was hard to learn and decided they wanted to try finger knitting.  This was a great success.

Max and Princess.  Two of our cooperative games were a popular choice.

Livio protected Buckingham Palace for Harlan who needed to work on his self portrait.  Livio kept watch and stopped anyone from entering.

Friends in dress up were cleaning, as Lucy told me "We are getting ready for a sleepover."  Farrah had prepared the beds and let us watch a movie with popcorn.

Those friends that stayed in the afternoon watched the perseverance rover landing on Mars before heading outside to play in the snow.
