Brainstorming

FRIDAY

Yesterday afternoon we watched a livestream of the rover landing.  Today, we looked at a map of Mars and found where  the rover Perseverance, landed.

Inspired by the rover landing spaceship making was very popular. One group  built a very large spaceship with a place for each person to sit.  There was some negotiation regarding who would sit where.    Max had put  shooters on  the end of the ship which made this a sort after location.  The issue was resolved when they agreed to spending 5 minutes each in the spot.

Anne and Nora built a smaller spaceship just big enough for the two of them to fit.

We also continued working on our self portrait drawings.

MONDAY

We decided as this was a short week we would leave letter of the week and focus on  brainstorming a list  of animals, in preparation for our animal study.    We explained mythic animals and extinct animals are not part of this animal study.   The brainstorming session helps the children start to think about which animal they would like to focus on.

Their brains were switched on as you can tell from the list below.  We reached seventy seven animals in our brainstorming session.  During work choice time Charlotte wrote down a few more that she and friends thought of throughout the morning.

You may want to start to have a conversation with your child about which animals they might be interested in, but we will not make any final decisions until a week after conferences.

We ended our morning by reading

QUESTIONS
What story did Mr Andrews tell on Friday?
Can you remember any of the animals from the book?
