APPLES AND ART

Ms. Lukkasson, our music teacher has already completed three weeks with us.  Now we have Ms. Lane, our Art teacher.  She will join us for the next three  Friday mornings.  Taking 9 children each week so everyone in both classes will get a chance to work with her.

Ms Lane talked about Primary colors and all the colors we can make using those three colors.   Today's group explored mixing the primary colors.  Experimenting with how to make a color lighter or darker.

Apples are in season making it a perfect time to taste test Minnesota grown apples.  Cortland, Honeycrisp, Sweet Tango and Zestar.  Almost everyone came over to try the apples and decide which was their favorite.  We discussed the taste and texture.  These are the words our class used to describe the apples.

sweet, sour, soft, mushy, hard, crunchy, and crusty.

Students wrote their name on a post-it note and placed it on our graph under the column that matched the apple they liked.  Some friends found they liked all four and wrote their name in each column.

QUESTIONS
What are the three primary colors?

What was your favorite apple?

Can you remember the Waterfall or Candle calming pose?

Can you find your name on the graph below?
