HIKE IN THE SNOW

We ended our morning with a hike to the wooded area next to the playground.

Inside we covered the bottom of the loft with a black cloth and put flashlights in there with colored paper.  There are many ways we will explore light and dark over the next few months.

Teamwork was needed to put the skeleton puzzle together.  Arm and leg bones look similar.

We read Albert's tree by Jenni Desmond.  Albert, the bear is surprised when his favorite resting tree starts to cry.  Albert's friends try to help him figure out how to make the tree feel better.

The book lead to this conversation

Ms. Small: Does anything make you scared?

Livio: Once we went o a cave with my dad and my mom, and it was so dark and scary; but then we got to the end and it was so beautiful!

Lucy: I’m scared of the dark when it’s nighttime.

Brooklyn: I have a night light.

Jenna: I have a night light, too.

Grace: I have a night light, too.

Farrah: I have 2 night lights.

Ren: At bedtime, I never want to get out of bed because I think there’s monsters on the floor.

Mila: I have a night light, too.

Annie: I have a night light and I’m scared of the night light. I like the dark. I take the night light out.

Max: I have a thing- it has noise and melodies, and prayers.

Livio: Once I thought there was a ghost, but I went under the covers; and I thought there was a ghost under there, too.

Ren: One time I had a scary dream that I thought was real.

Livio: I wish dreams could come true.

Kaia: I’m never scared of the dark, but Mahara is.
