The children and teachers were very excited to be back in the PreK classroom. The children returned to find some new games, books and manipulatives mixed in with the standard and familiar ones they love. As if returning to school wasn't exciting enough, Mr Billadeau and Ms. Lawrence's class had a new student, Claire Hage join. See if you can spot her in some of the photos.
Farrah, Annie and Jenna instigated baby washing. we had to get all of the babies out to accommodate their interest.
Carefully drying them and wrapping them up so they didn't get cold before washing them again. Friends found that their tops became a little wet . This did not curb their enthusiasm for repeatedly washing and drying their babies.
Livio was one of a few friends that tried to trick the teachers in to taking a potion. I was turned into a monster and a frog. Fortunately Jenna made me a potion to turn me back to a teacher. PHEW!
The Doctor's office was as popular as ever.
This really is a great way for our PreK students to process everything going on with Covid and vaccinations. I think Ren gave me at least 6 shots and each time he gleefully told me "This is really going to hurt." while friends tried to make Ms. Lawrence eat lots of nasty tasting things. Telling her that they would make her better.
Goldilocks and the Dinosaurs
"Goldilocks is walking in the woods and she saw a huge dinosaur.
She ran and ran and ran then she fell back and the he ate her. "
As an after thought she added "And the bears are angry because the dinosaur ate them."
A very sad ending but this is a way for children to see themselves as authors and create their own versions of familiar stories. We hope to be sharing more of these types of stories over the next few weeks.
We changed the Science area adding some animal furs, coyote, bison, rabbit and raccoon. we also have a bison skull and coyote skull. We chose to put these animals out because they are animals that live in Minnesota. We will also be able to have conversations about Predator and prey. Looking at the animals teeth, where their eyes were located etc.
Those friends that wanted to start their first day back with quieter workchoices found shape tracing.
Coloring on the whiteboard. This time it was an image of goldilocks in baby bears bed.
Listening to and following along with a story. This book was called Froggy gets dressed.
