Before morning meeting Henry and Max started drumming while Ren gave us a chorus of "I like to move it move it". What a great way to start the day.
During work choice time friends were called over to the big art table to draw a memory from Winter Break. There were a lot of deep snow and sledding adventures. Only half of the class shared their memories as we ran out of time. I can't wait till tomorrow, to hear what other adventures the rest of the class had.
I had to share this picture as it helps me explain how children learn through play and I loved the creative thinking from Annie.
I want to feed the baby but I don't have a bottle. AHA! A funnel and a tube.
Yes, we ended with a puddle of water on the counter but we can easily clean that up. The important part is the learning process, Annie had an hypothesis, tried it out and looked at the result. Not to mention the social/emotional skills in looking after a baby. Communicating with friends on how to take care of them. Working with measurements of volume, filling the tube and the funnel with water. Does Annie view it in those terms, No, she was having fun. Every child in the class is learning this way, through play.
It takes a lot of energy to play with others students. We have noticed a couple of friends that have been very tired and hungry. I know it can be hard getting back in to an early bedtime routine or having to eat breakfast early. We will try and give extra snacks this week to help them through.

Before P.E. we read First Snow by Bomi Park
