At the beginning of the year we looked at a basket of items from nature and picked ones that closely matched our skin color. Today we tested our brains and tried to remember which items we picked. If we couldn't remember we just picked a new one.
We also read All the colors we are by Katie Kissinger and discussed the three ways we get our skin color.
We continued working with both classes on our model magic self portraits.
Max, Eli, Livio, Henry and Ren built a castle in big blocks.
Friends took turns to wear the crown and be in charge. they all made their own shields and swords with Mr. Andrews help.
We have started decorating the classroom with snowflakes. Using coffee filters friends have been learning how to fold the coffee filter to create a six sided snowflake. Animal and flower punchers were another popular option.
We brought the ice filled sensory table from outside into the classroom. Placing moose and deer on the icy landscape. Brooklyn, Anne, Nora and Hannah added a few other animals to make their story more interesting.
Friends spent a long time lining all the little bottles of potion up. Trying to get others to sample the drinks and turn them into rattlesnakes and frogs.
