NO PICTURES :(

For the last couple of days I have been struggling to post photos and video clips to my blog.  I am assuming it has something to do with my internet service.  Therefore this blog looks a little sad.

The most important part about Thursday was celebrating Eli's half birthday.  Friends gave great wishes.  Mom, dad, Nancy, his nanny, and Wes, his baby brother joined us.  Ending with a popsicle treat while I read  'The boy that Harnessed the wind' by William Kamkwamba.  A true story about a boy that recycled  items to create a wind generator to help his community draw water from the ground so they could grow crops.

Community Day

We carried out an experiment today that lasted all morning.  Every one was asked to predict what they thought would happen to the two snowmen if one was covered with a hat and the other one wasn't.

Will one of them melt faster than the other? Why?

At the end of the day we looked at our experiment and observed what had happened to the two snowmen.  What happened to the snowmen?

After group time we headed to the gym as the temperature was below -10 and we needed some large muscle time.

When we returned to the classroom Ms Lane worked with another group of students on their self portrait drawings.

I spent time in dress up with a group of students.   Apparently I had a lot of problems with my brain.

Farrah and Livio were my doctors

Farrah in a stern voice told me "You, need to sit here.  Stay here and  read this book while I'm gone."

Livio started to look at my brain "Your brain is bad."

Farrah:  Livio, Livio, Livio, it is me that's going to get this thing done.  No more talk about brains. Let me look at your migala (amygdala)."

In a surprised voice, "But there is no anger or fear there. It's not working!" But in the future it will.  So, it is working.

She stood behind me and screamed "AARRGGGHH"

I jumped

She exclaimed, "Your migala is working!"

I feel so lucky to be able to see and hear how children take information that they have learned and apply it to their play.   Clearly showing  her understanding of the amygdala from our group  discussions about the certain parts of the brain.

Mr Andrews ended our day with another great story using his brain.  I wonder what part of the brain those thoughts and ideas come from?

Stay warm and See you on Monday
