This morning the children noticed that we had a new Question of the Day. Charlotte read the question "Does your animal live in the water?" and friends started to fill in the form unprompted. Some of the children had to think hard about their answer as it brought up other questions, such as, if your animal can swim does that mean he lives in water?
Yesterday I read Malala's magic pencil written by Malala Yousafzai.
This is an image of Malala with her parents and brothers. We will look at more pictures on Monday along with a video clip with Malala talking about writing her book Malala's magic pencil.
Last week we were having a conversation about people that stand up for what they believe in and make changes in the world, like Martin Luther King Junior. Ren asked a great question,"Are they all dead.?" Yes, a lot of the people that are known as change makers are dead but there a lot that are not and those are the ones I will be focusing on next week. I will be reading books and looking at young people that have made changes in the world in many different ways.
Today we celebrated Community day by spending the whole morning outside in the Golden Forest (not Golden at present). Below is a video of our adventures in the woods. It was a beautiful day, here's to more days like this.
We found a dead squirrel which generated a lot of questions, and theories as to how it died. Another great find was, poop! The children remembered from the book we read earlier this week what animal it came from. A rabbit. We also found a good spot to listen to a frog and toad story from Mr. Andrews.
