We started our family drawings today. The children are learning what a Have to is. When you have to come to the big table to do a project. This does not happen very often, especially this early in the school year, but our family drawings are one of the ways we open the door to conversations about who we are. Looking at how we are the same and different. The children dictate what is happening in the drawing and we write it down. Usually parents have the opportunity to see their child's art on the wall when they come into the classroom. This year I will create a slide show when we complete work like this.
For some children this is not their favorite choice. While others can spend the whole morning drawing and sharing information about their family.
Another fun day had by all whether they were choosing a new work choice for the first time or returning to an old favorite.

The highlight of our day was Charlotte's birthday celebration.
Her family joined us via Zoom, including Eli and Jenna, our remote learners.
We all gave Charlotte a birthday wish. As you probably already know the school has requested we do not have parents bring treats in this year. The Pre-K teachers decided we would buy popsicles for our birthday celebrations through the school. Charlotte surprised her friends with a Star Wars parcel for each of them, which had a coloring book, crayons and stickers. We socially distanced while eating our popsicle making sure we put our masks back on before singing Happy Birthday. After all that excitement everyone had a chance to get some energy out in P.E.
What a busy day, but lots of fun!
