THE GOLDEN FOREST

What a beautiful day to spend in the woods.  We took the children to the golden forest, another wooded area on our school grounds.  You will notice from many of our photos that the children play with sticks.  We feel that playing with sticks adds to a child's experience outdoors, whether using it for imaginative play, or helping them explore in the dirt and leaves.

When we returned to the classroom we read Melanin by Tiffany Rose.    We briefly discussed what melanin is and we looked at our hands next to each other and noticed the similarities and differences.

QUESTIONS

What is Melanin?

How do you measure the stick to see if you can play with it?

What other rules do you have when playing in the woods?
