COMMUNITY DAY

Community Day is when we focus on the class coming together to sing songs, dance, and have guests join us in person, or via zoom.

Ms. Lukkasson, our music teacher visited this morning and shared 'Zin! Zin1 Zin! a Violin by Lloyd Moss.

During music we normally come together in a large circle to do some whole group learning then Ms. Lukkasson would take them in small groups for 15 minutes.  The changes in schedule, and the way we do music now are very different.  Of course, the children are not aware that anything has changed, and we all had fun, as you will see if you click on the link below.

Then, we had another visitor.  This is Nurse Carissa, our school nurse, she reminded us of ways we can stay safe at school.

Followed by a morning of  making work choices together.

A few friends played Pick up Sticks,

Others worked together to make the largest train track possible.

Kaia and Alex came up with a plan to trap people using a long rope across the two lofts.  This is one of those moments as a early childhood educator that you have to weigh the risk against what they are learning from this experience.  A teacher was always close by to supervise, able to prompt when needed.  Mostly giving them the space to think and strategize what worked and what didn't.

Mila and Grace created patterns with unifix cubes, while Ren used all the colors "To create a rainbow."explaining how many white cubes he needed for the next column.

Due to the interest in ramps and marbles this week we brought out one of our marble runs.  Which proved to be popular.  Max and Maxi spent most of the morning working with Henry to create a marble run

Brooklyn was excited to show me her "Diamond in the rough."that she created.  Which I immediately knew was from Aladdin, one of my favorite movies.

We ended the morning with our famous Storyteller, Mr Andrews making an appearance via zoom.  Which we will hopefully do every Friday.

QUESTIONS
