ANIMALS

During group time we looked at
Giving us more words to help describe our skin colors, such as frosting, vanilla ice-cream, popcorn, brown sugar etc. During work choice time everyone was focused and engaged. A few more students were called to mix paints to match their skin color with Mr Andrews.

Playful puppies is a game that has been going on all week. Some children play puppies while others are their owners. Training them to sit, follow, and rollover. They made dog biscuits out of corks, as well as leashes for their dogs. We had a short conversation about safety and wearing a leash. The children decided that our Pre-K puppies could hold the leash with their hand.

Kaia brought some decorations in that she had made for our classroom. Inspiring friends to make paper chains which as you can see are hanging from the lofts. We also added a pulley system to the loft. Excitedly the children gathered materials to place in the basket moving items from one loft to the other. Using their communication skills to notify the children in the other loft when they were ready to send the basket over. Figuring out when to pull the cord to bring it to you, and waiting for the other team to fill or empty the basket took patience but they worked well together to achieve their goal.

Catching the sun as it is reflected from the mirror to the floor never gets old. The children are fascinated and delighted by the way the lights dance around the room when they move the mirror. It is nice to see the class return to a work choice time and time again. Learning from their experiences. Sharing their thoughts with friends while laughing and having fun.

At the end of the morning we read a book that Brooklyn brought in to share called
We saw some of the animals that friends are studying and discussed what part of the world they lived in looking at the map we looked at the continent of Africa and Australia.

 QUESTIONS
 Who is studying a pig?
What do you remember seeing on the Australian animals page?

We just finished two fiction books. One was called Peter and Ernesto by Graham Annabelle ,about two sloths. The other book was about another sloth called Sparky by Jenny Offill. If you have any fiction story books about the animal you are studying and want to share it bring it in and I will read it to the class.
