Dolphins and Kangaroos

Yesterday Grace and Mila presented their animal studies.
Mila went first and shared what she had learned about dolphins.

Grace then stood up and shared what she had learned about kangaroos.

We also read a book about dogs yesterday called

today we continued through the alphabet.  No one is studying animals beginning with the letter E but Livio is studying a flying fish.

We learned how the words  glide, predator and torpedo relate to flying fish.

First thing this morning a group of students started creating more radial patterns,  using the shapes to make people and animals.  They also started to explore the idea of stacking the blocks to create tall towers.

Collaborating over which way was stable and which was not.  Testing their ideas out.  Wondering, "Are certain shapes  easier to build with than others?"

The PK teachers were requested to attend a short meeting leaving our students in the capable hands of other members of our teaching staff.  The children dealt with the transition smoothly.   Already knowing the substitute teachers who  have covered for  us when we have been out sick.

The weather was so beautiful that we had the playground open as a work choice.  There was so much going on I thought I would share as much as possible by adding extra photos.

QUESTIONS
What was the name of one of the teachers that came to PK today?
How many sides does a hexagon have?
What new facts did you learn about kangaroos and dolphins?

We had some teachers visit and supervise the children for a short as the PK teachers had been requested to attend a meeting about the Early Learning center.
